About Stonegate GC At Solivita - Cypress (Poinciana, FL)
The Cypress Course at Stonegate Golf Club at Solivita has been skillfully redesigned by Clifton, Ezell & Clifton, fabricated into a more challenging layout than its predecessor. Fairways are still gently rolling and flanked by undisturbed century-old cypress trees; all the greens have been expanded in size to feature undulations acceptable for much faster roll - some greens have now been bulk-headed for a truly spectacular visual affect. Cart paths now run the length of the course, tee to green, and water comes into play on 13 holes. #16 is a real challenging par 3 over water to a large, bulkheaded green - tough! Don't expect to recognize many of the new holes as this picturesque redesign will have you questioning your ability to remember what the course used to be! The Cypress is a unique addition to this terrific golf facility and creates a great 36-hole combination with its sister course, the Oaks. Play them both - you won't be disappointed.

David (Levittown, NY) says:
A nice, wide layout. Not an easy course, but it is somewhat forgiving off of the tees. Not as pretty as Oak, but if you're playing 36, it's worth playing both.

Keith (Saint Louis, MO) says:
Only problem with these two courses, they only had one drink cart for both. Good shape.

Jonathan (Nashua, NH) says:
Great track! The course is not pre-loaded in 2 of our GPS units so check that before you go out. We wish we had. This is the life I tell you. You drive through the little city which has more parking for golf carts than cars! Cool place in general. Regarding the course, said to tougher of the 2 courses here....we would agree but just barely. Cypress is a tough target golf course. Not long but you can't spray drive on any hole. You can however play around the entire golf course with a 4-iron. (one of our guys played 6 holes with 4-iron off the tee...he made par on all 6 holes) Target golf which was more about approach shots into the green. Alligators everywhere, which we loved. Pace of play was great and you never felt rushed or slowed, just a nice roudn of golf. Our friend shot the best round of his life (80 but he usually shots 95 plus) by playing the yardage not the hole. (we except him to play the way forever now....which will surely drive us all made and you too if you are behind us....) Overall, great course, great layout. The only negative was how it long the distance between holes was....you could never walk this place.

Jason (Dyersburg, TN) says:
great residential golf course. there were some long distances between tee boxes. houses on course do not come into play for the most part.

Chuck (Chanhassen, MN) says:
Maybe just to tight for us. Seemed every fairway ran downhill into the woods or marsh. No chance to play from there or even find your ball.

HAVEN'T PLAYED IT SINCE IT WAS POINTCIANA SO THOUGHT WE WOULD GIVE IT A TRY. I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE LAYOUT, TOO MANY NARROW DOGLEGS.

Donald (St-Redempteur, QC) says:
Good course surrounded by lakes and houses. One of the best couse (conditions wise) of the trip. Only negative, the driving range was still close (re-opening was annonced in january 2007)despite being told that it would probably be open. but otherwise a good course for the price.

Top notch facility!!! Next time we might consider playing both the Cypress & International courses.

Carl (Westfield, MA) says:
Played both the Cypress and Oaks on the same day. Preferred the Cypress loop over the Oaks but both were beautifully maintained. Courses were very spread out and seldom did you have the "back and forth" of many cookie cutter courses. The only knock I could make against it is that the bar wasn't prepared for hot dogs at noon between the two rounds and we wound up waiting for half an hour. Perhaps they were just understaffed that day. Otherwise enjoyed the layout and would play them again.

Rex (Bicknell, IN) says:
Played 1/26/07. Best course conditions of the week, even better than OCN Crooked Cat. Love the course but just like when I played the Oaks a few years ago, you feel like somewhat of an outsider when you play here. Upscale community. Watch out for gators here. You'll be okay if you hit it straight.
